Black Social Gospel wins 2017 Grawemeyer in Religion


Congratulations to the Rev. Dr. Gary Dorrien, winner of the 2017 Grawemeyer Award in Religion, for his book, The New Abolition: W.E.B. DuBois and the Black Social GospelAn Episcopal priest and author of 17 books, Dr. Dorrien is the Reinhold Niebuhr Professor of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Professor of Religion at Columbia University. Each year the winners deliver a public lecture in April at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary as well as a panel discussion on the winning book at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion.
