First do no harm: Environmentally responsible health care

HealthCareWithoutHarmLogo “The fact that hospitals were poisoning people and the environment in the service of healing them was crazy,” says Gary Cohen, founder of  Health Care Without Harm, an international coalition of hospitals and health care systems, medical professionals, community groups, health-affected constituencies, labor unions, environmental and environmental health organizations and religious groups. Its programs include: Medical Waste, Toxic Materials, Safer Chemicals, Green Building and Energy, Healthy Food, Pharmaceuticals, Green Purchasing, Climate and Health, Transportation, Water.
