Work together? Us?

On partnerships in promoting global health:

Partnerships are difficult. The meetings are often miserable because each party wants to run the program. Effective partnership requires a Confucian concept of reciprocity: everybody has to give if everyone is to receive. From day 1, ask, ‘what do you need that we can provide? what can we help you with?’ When they don’t end at the end of a paper or grant, when they are collaborations for a lifetime – that’s the test of a great partnership.
